Website management

Website management

From time to time the website may need amendments the frequency will depends on the client needs.  Occasionally a part of the site will corrupts with no known reason

  1. Text
The text  in this topic generally relates to information as opposed to text in the navigation, banners, and other coded areas.  This text should fit the containers they have been designed for if they are not to compromise the overall layout, therefore have repercussions on the website design.  If it does it is generally not classified as management but reconstruction
  2. Pictures
Much the same goes for pictures as mention about text.  Pictures tend to be more time consuming to change
  3. Other graphics
Depending on the complexity some graphics, which usually form part of the website design can be altered, but the client should not expect too much as it could be seen as reconstruction
  4. Site reconstruction
This strictly speaking is not management.  Reconstruction comprises alterations to the website design which exceeds general text and picture changes.  If there is a management agreement the client should view reconstruction as an extra service
  5. Optimisation
This is the adjustment of key words and descriptions that are embedded in the code of the website.  If the text on a page changes dramatically it may be necessary to change the key words and page description to match to maintain the website’s position in the search engine rankings.  Bear in mind that large changes in either the text in the website page or its code can effect its ranking.  The amendment of key words and page descriptions may need amendments irrespective of the text in the website.  The juggling of words and descriptions can be a continuous tussle with other website trying to be ranked along side each other, all trying to use the best words and descriptions.

Depending on the level of service the website designer relies on feedback from information that is gathered from reading website statistics.  The client can often control this aspect of the website and supply the designer with the best key words, etc
