Definition  When? Where? What? How?

  1. Determine the objectives
  2. Determine the competition
  3. What is the unique selling point
  4. Identify the content
  5. Identify desirable features
  6. Identify the customer - demographics
  7. Explore the technological issues
  8. Determine the timeline
  9. Determine the budget

 

Architecture  Identify key messages that emerged from the definition phase

  1. Define the information types and how they will be manifested
  2. Define logical relationships
  3. Define links among information types
  4. Brainstorm and conceptualise
  5. Test the navigation using prototypes
  6. Identify specialised resources required to complete the project

 

Design  the look and feel of the website

  1. Develop a customer colour palette for the site
  2. Choose what  fonts to use in text, navigation, etc
  3. Determine screen size, especially page width
  4. Create examples of possible site looks
  5. Choose the metaphor, if any, and design the visual interface
  6. Determine the names of the major sections and features
  7. Create navigation graphics and any site specific icon system
  8. Create examples showing layout of key pages
  9. Begin content development especially for key pages
  10. Proceed with research and development of specialised technology

 

Implementation

  1. Implement the Design including multimedia or database components
  2. Perform beta testing across multiple platforms and browsers
  3. Proof read all copy
  4. Provide working templates
  5. Provide live web pages for key pages (and multiples of content pages)
